You don't get research funding unless there's a very good reason, so we're thrilled to announce we've successfully applied for a research funding grant.
The project has been funded by an innovation voucher from EIRA, a £4.7 million initiative from Research England’s Connecting Capability Fund. It aims to increase growth and productivity by transforming the way businesses connect with universities and colleges through a knowledge exchange network. You can find out more about EIRA here: www.eira.ac.uk.
A scientific report designed to underpin ongoing product development
We've approached Dr Gary Rowley, UEA Associate Professor of Bacterial Pathogenesis and Metabolism, to provide an Opinion Report to highlight the antimicrobial potential of UV-C based technologies including the bactericidal and/or bacteriostatic properties that the technology elicits, and the molecular and cellular impact UV-C has on a range of microorganisms.
The resulting report will underpin a number of innovative Cool-Tech product developments and enhancements which are currently under discussion.
The University of East Anglia is the leading EIRA institution for biotechnology, helping businesses find solutions to their challenges via world-class research and leading academics. The university has an excellent track record in successful collaboration with businesses of every size, ranked in the top 15 UK universities and a member of the top 200 universities in the world. According to the most recent Research Excellence Framework, more than 80% of the university's research was classed as world-leading or internationally excellent.
Why does the science matter?
Our machines are driven by science, and always have been. It's our aim to keep our already-proven UVC disinfection technology at the forefront of science, making certain we keep pace as the pandemic unfolds. Science underpins everything we do, and our brand's reputation sits on a firm scientific basis. We want it to stay that way, continually maximising the effectiveness of the machines we make by pinning down the latest science and applying it back to our products.
